The Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology is a government-affiliated institute advancing aviation safety and the drone, UAM, and advanced air mobility industries in the Republic of Korea. KIAST organizes the Korea Drone·UAM Expo on behalf of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This partnership runs both ways. African companies gain access to Korean technology, institutions, and partners. Korean stakeholders gain a credible, coordinated route into African ecosystems.

The African Drone Forum and the Lake Kivu Challenge brought regulators, operators, and global partners together in Kigali. The event established ADF as a trusted convener for Africa’s drone ecosystem. It grew from the same spirit, including Africa’s first drone soccer competition, that would later connect ADF to Korea.
ADF joined Drone Show Korea in Busan, one of Asia’s leading drone, aerospace, and future mobility exhibitions. The visit opened direct dialogue between African and Korean drone stakeholders and began a relationship that would carry across both continents.
ADF participated in Korea’s 2025 International Drone Industry Symposium in Jeonju, sharing the African drone story with Korean and international stakeholders and deepening Africa-Korea industry dialogue.
KIAST led a government-to-government mission to Kenya. ADF facilitated meetings with the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority and Konza Technopolis on UTM collaboration, regulatory exchange, and pilot-training partnerships. For the first time Korea came to Africa, and the exchange became truly two-way.
ADF returned to Busan for Drone Show Korea 2026, with African ecosystem voices represented on the program. A single visit had become an annual rhythm, and the relationship with Korean institutions and industry deepened.
A Korean delegation participated in the Global Conservation Tech and Drone Forum 2026 in Kenya, where ADF helps lead the drone program. KIAST has since named this engagement as the moment that strengthened Korea-Africa dialogue and led directly to the invitation to Korea this July.
KIAST has officially invited ADF to coordinate an Africa Pavilion at Korea’s leading government-driven drone and UAM platform, held July 15 to 17, 2026 at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, alongside the K-Drone Festival. ADF is curating a focused group of African companies and institutions and convening the Africa-Korea UAS Leadership Roundtable.
ADF is coordinating a focused African presence at one of Korea’s major government-backed platforms for drone, UAM, and advanced air mobility. This is a selective, strategic mission for organizations serious about Korea-Africa collaboration.
Companies cover their own flights, accommodation, visas, and personal travel. ADF coordinates the pavilion, the program, and Korean stakeholder engagement.
